Tekken 8: News and Rumors
It takes a long time for BANDAI NAMCO to come up with new Tekken games. Tekken 6 came out in 2007, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in 2011 and Tekken 7 in 2015. The current version, which didn’t live up to the expectations of most fans, will probably stick around for a while.
But what about the next iteration of the legendary game? How long are we going to wait for Tekken 8, and what can we expect from this new title? Let’s take a deeper look.
Arguments about the new part of the series already rage on the online message boards and forums, with fans sharing their hopes and dreams about new characters, soundtracks and storylines.
It’s more than likely that veterans like Nina, King, Paul, or Dragunov will stay intact, perhaps, with minor adjustments to their moves and appearance. But as with every new Tekken, we can expect fresh, exciting characters that will provide us with hours of entertainment.
The new game will most likely come out on PS4 and Xbox 360. But it’s fun to remember that the first Tekken came out on the PlayStation in 1994. Over the years, the PlayStation had a significant impact on the gaming industry, and developing new versions of Tekken is a part of this legacy. And though Tekken 7 was a massive success, selling more than three million copies worldwide, gamers already want to get their hands on the next iteration of the fighting game.
Unfortunately, BANDAI NAMCO, the official producer, hasn’t yet announced an official release date, so we have to stay patient and wait for more news.
The good news is that the gaming engine, main storyline and basic mechanics are already in place within the series. So, it’s more than likely that the producers will use these assets to guarantee a speedier release.
Although we have yet to see an official trailer for Tekken 8, at the end of Tekken 7, we did get a teaser, which gave us a hint on what to expect from the next game.
Watch it here.
As of writing, there’s a lack of substantial news about the new release. With the release of Tekken Mobile over a year ago in March 2018, we can now only hope that producers will find extra bandwidth to work on the next version of the legendary fighting game.
