2010 Spike Video Game Awards Results

The 2010 Spike Video Game Awards have just ended with some great announcements and trailers. 2010 has been an amazing year for games and the nominees (along with the winners) are below:

The Spike Video Game Awards ran annually on Spike TV from 2003 through 2013, and by 2010 had become known as much for its lineup of exclusive World Premiere trailers as for the awards themselves, with publishers routinely saving major reveals for the broadcast. The 2010 show arrived at the tail end of a year stacked with high-profile releases, several of which – including Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops – ended up as recurring nominees across multiple categories on this list, reflecting just how competitive the field was that year.

Red Dead Redemption’s dominance stands out across the full list of winners here, picking up Game of the Year alongside wins in original score, best original game, best downloadable content and best zombie game – an unusually wide sweep for a single title across a single show. Bioware’s Studio of the Year win was likewise backed up by a Best Role Playing Game win for Mass Effect 2 and a Best Performance nomination for Martin Sheen’s turn as the Illusive Man, underlining just how strong a year the studio had.
